Dr. Josie Ahlquist

Digital Engagement and Leadership Speaker, Author, Consultant & Coach

Through speaking, coaching, teaching, and consulting, Dr. Josie Ahlquist guides educational leaders, organizations, and students to practice purposeful digital leadership. Her practical, evidence-based frameworks empower clients to build and implement a digital engagement strategy that fits their life, their audience, and their purpose. Josie’s work is grounded in her grant-funded and award-winning research that has allowed her to train thousands around the globe as a speaker; provide consulting services to institutions and companies; and coach professionals in branding, voice, and positioning.

Josie is a three-time LinkedIn Top Voice in Education, has been recognized by Ed Tech Magazine as one of the “Top 50 Must-Read Higher Education Technology Blogs” for five years. Her podcast, Josie and The Podcast, has been featured by The Chronicle of Higher Education and Inside Higher Ed. Her new book, Digital Leadership in Higher Education: Purposeful Social Media in a Connected World was listed as an Amazon #1 new release for college and university student life.

Josie received her EdD in higher education leadership from California Lutheran University, an MEd in counseling from Northern Arizona University, and a BA in sociology and human development and family studies from South Dakota State University. Prior to her independent path, Josie spent nearly 15 years on college campuses in areas of student leadership, student activities, residence life, and student affairs communications and marketing. She currently serves as a research associate and instructor at Florida State University Leadership Learning Research Center, where her curriculum builds digital literacy and leadership skills for undergraduates to doctoral students.

Abisola Akinkuowo

Program Manager, AAUW

Abisola Akinkuowo is a zealous advocate for education equity for minority students. With a background in managing education programs and policy initiatives, Abisola has great experience in working for non-profits, universities, and government agencies with the aim to address equity for minority students.

Her professional journey began at the University of Maryland College Park, working in the President's Office specifically in the federal relations department addressing education issues college students face. She then took her expertise to Beacon House, a Washington D.C non-profit as their Program and Operations Associate to address major education issues from college access to retention for minority students. She obtained her masters in Economic and Education Policy from Georgia State University to have a better understanding of the constructs that are in place that do not have equity in mind for all. While in Georgia, Abisola lead the Early College program dual enrollment program for minority students focusing on cultural competence and excellence at Georgia State University in the College of Education. She then worked for the State Charter School Commission in Georgia helping to keep the exceptional charter schools operating. She topped off her time in Georgia creating an agriculturally infused curriculum to give minority students a unique school experience with garden classrooms. Abisola is now the Program Manager over the Start Smart Program with the aim to educate and equip college students about salary negotiation and securing economic security.

Abisola was born in Washington D.C and is a proud Nigerian-American raised in Prince George's County, Maryland. Abisola is an extreme couponer and volunteers her time leading the high school department of Bethel Campus Fellowship as her way of paying it forward while raising up next generation leaders.

Kelley Ashby

President and Independent Consultant, Kelley Ashby Consulting, LLC

Kelley Ashby has over twenty years of experience in higher education administration which includes experience in academic and co-curricular leadership education and initiative development, management, implementation, and assessment. She created, directed, and co-authored the University of Iowa’s Career Leadership Academy programs and curriculum; developed and administered Iowa’s Certificate in Leadership Studies; co-authored “Building a Competency-Based Leadership Program with Campus-Wide Implementation” for New Directions in Student Leadership; and developed leadership curriculum for learners ranging from high school students to executives. She has worked closely with Dr. Corey Seemiller and her Student Leadership Competencies work by helping higher education institutions implement competency-based programs and learning experiences for students. She has also assisted numerous organizations “map” their programs and leadership trainings to the competencies and then assess the impact on student leadership skill and knowledge development. In 2017, she decided to embark on a new adventure and started her own business.

Michelle Enjoli Beato

Speaker and Founder of Connect with Michelle Enjoli

Michelle Enjoli is a bilingual international speaker and career coach who motivates and teaches students strategies on how to successfully connect to career and business opportunities. She was a first-generation college student who was able to get her dream job while she was still in college and since then has been given some amazing opportunities working for major global brands in television broadcasting like Univision, ABC, NBC and CBS and marketing for Mercedes-Benz USA and Delta Air Lines. Maria Rose Belding

Co-Founder/Executive Director and Board Member of MEANS

As the author of more than a dozen nationally published pieces on food security and poverty, Maria Rose has also had the privilege to speak on the same issues in 25 states.

Her work has not gone unnoticed, with recognition from Points of Light, L’Oreal Paris, and the Obama White House with President’s Volunteer Service awards in 2014 and 2016, along with being named a 2018 Glamour College Woman of the Year.

In December 2018 at age 23, she became the youngest woman ever named a CNN Hero of the Year.

Dr. Paul Brown

Dr. Paul Gordon Brown is a scholar, consultant and speaker specializing residential curriculum and curricular approaches, and in student learning and development’s intersection with technology, social media and design. Dr. Lucy Croft

Vice-President of Student Affairs, Buena Vista University

If you want to enjoy the learning of leadership, Lucy Croft knows how to deliver practical lessons on effective leadership behaviors. She currently serves as Buena Vista University’s vice president for student success. Prior to her recent move to BVU, Dr. Croft served as the associate vice president for student affairs at the University of North Florida (UNF) in Jacksonville, Florida.

Croft is an accomplished student life professional with nearly 30 years of experience working in higher education settings. At UNF, Croft primarily provided strategic direction for the integration of the admissions, orientation, week of welcome, and first experience programs in partnership with several other University departments to ensure a robust student retention program. Prior to joining UNF, Croft spent 13 years at the University of Cincinnati where she worked as the director of student activities and leadership development. She also served as the director of student activities at Virginia Intermont College and the assistant director of student activities and orientation at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York.

Lucy emphasizes and lives by a wellness approach to leadership. She is a twenty-five year veteran presenter of leadership and educational workshops on the local, regional, and national levels. Having always “walked the talk,” Lucy is well respected across the country. Dr. Zebulun Davenport

Vice-President of Student Affairs at West Chester University

Dr. Zebulun Davenport currently serves as the Vice-President of Student Affairs at West Chester University. His contributions have advanced campus culture, organizational structure, and student success. Under his leadership, two divisions of student affairs have received Diverse Magazine’s the distinction of “Most Promising Places to Work”.

His expertise includes the areas of student retention, outcomes assessment, strategic planning, and strategies for assisting first-generation college students. Dr. John Dugan

Executive Director, Youth Leadership Programs at the Aspen Institute

Dr. John P. Dugan spent 20+ years working at the intersections of research, program design, equity, and human development. Curtis Hill

Professional Speaker

Growing up in Chicago, like so many others, Curtis found it easy to drift into a life of violence and crime. Curtis made his way to the very top, and quickly became one of Chicago’s most recognizable and notorious gang members. His drug dealing created untold misery and suffering within the community, while earning him over $150,000 per month.

A special task force was put together for the sole purpose of bringing him and his associates down. Curtis’ life of crime came to an abrupt halt when he witnessed the cold-blooded murder of his best friend, who was face planted off the porch of his Southside Chicago home. With his own death staring him in the face, Curtis came to the sudden realization that if he wanted to survive, he’d have to change his life around.

What follows is an inspirational account of how he managed to become an educator/administrator and earn himself two degrees, a Master’s of Arts in Teaching and an Educational Specialist in Administration and Supervision.

Shawn Livingston

Interim Director for Student Development and Campus Activities at Pace University

Shawn Livingston is the Interim Director for Student Development and Campus Activities at Pace University where he serves as a leader on his campus community and thus creating a vibrant atmosphere of campus life for students. His role oversees the development of all student organization and fraternity and sorority life operations, new student orientation, commuter student services and leadership programs.

Shawn is particularly passionate about his work in assessment and mentoring, and finds significant joy in advising the campus Student Government. He is also a highly sought after speaker with presentations at local and national leadership conferences. Shawn delivers customized thought-provoking and engaging presentations on a host of topics drawing from over fourteen years of working with students and supervising staffs.

Shawn has been actively involved in professional associations since 2007, which include National Orientation Director’s Association (NODA) and NASPA.

Dr. Charles Lloyd

President of White Mountains Community College

Take a great sense of humor, add some wackiness, and throw in creative teaching techniques and you get the energetic and unpredictable Chuck Lloyd. For the past 16 years, Chuck has incorporated practical approaches used at a technical institute to develop hundreds of audiences at regional and national conferences.

Dr. Lloyd currently serves as the President of White Mountains Community College. Previously, Dr. Lloyd served as the Vice President of Student Affairs at New Hampshire Technical Institute – Concord’s Community College, where he maintains a strong passion for student leadership and service. In addition to being a true practitioner, Dr. Lloyd teaches courses in the Business Department.

Previously awarded the 2006 NHTI Service Learning Award and 2007 Commissioner’s Award for Service Excellence, Dr. Lloyd is an accomplished student advocate and motivator. His creative approach to developing student leaders has earned him a national reputation as a dynamic speaker and consultant.

Dr. Lloyd is a frequent presenter at regional, state, national and international conferences and was instrumental in the creation of the Lead365 National Conference.

Susan Luchey

Associate Director of University Student Centers for Leadership Development at the University of Delaware

With over 26 years working to develop student leaders, Susan Luchey currently serves as the Associate Director of University Student Centers for Leadership Development at the University of Delaware. Previously, she served as the Manager of Student Life and Director of Student Involvement at the University of Baltimore where she developed and directed their campus wide student leadership program. In 2008, she was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award from the University.

Ms. Luchey oversees the Blue Hen Leadership Program that continues to be a model for certificate programs in the United States. The program was recently recognized as the 2014 Outstanding Leadership Program in the country by the Association of Leadership Educators.

Her professional experience includes managing four departments within the Division of Student Affairs including: Student Involvement, the Career Center, the Achievement and Learning Center, and Campus Recreation and Wellness. She has served as an adjunct faculty member in the Merrick School of Business at the University of Baltimore, and in the School of Public Affairs at the University of Delaware. She also works in an educational advising role for the Baltimore Ravens.
